Adoption

Adoption is the legal process of obtaining parental rights and responsibilities over another person’s child(ren).

Historically in Africa especially, adoption was an informal process. With many extended families and some couples failing to have their own biological children, adoption was taken on as an informal process. However, with the growing need to provide proof of parentage in cases of travel, education and other general livelihoods, there is a growing need to have one’s parentage fully proved.
